Lucapa Unearths More Large Diamonds At Lulo Diamond Project In Angola

22/Aug/2017 By Albert Robinson

(IDEX Online) – Lucapa Diamond Company Limited has found more large diamonds at the Lulo Diamond Project in Angola, including two Type IIa stones weighing 83 carats and 68 carats, respectively.

In addition, recent recoveries include five other 50+ carat diamonds.

The latest large diamond recoveries follow the return of alluvial mining activities to Mining Block 8 at Lulo, which has been a prolific producer of large and premium-value diamonds, the miner said. These include Angola’s biggest recorded diamond the 404-carat 4th February Stone, which sold for $16 million.

The seven 50+ carat stones will be included in the next parcel of Lulo diamonds to be sold by Lulo mining company Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo in which Lucapa is a 40-percent owner and operator. The sale is scheduled for September 2017.
